Shrove Tuesday is the last day before Lent begins; in French it is called Mardi Gras ("Fat Tuesday") and was the traditional day to consume all the "rich" foods in the pantry before the fast of Lent. We'll eat pancakes and bacon/sausages at church.

The beginning of the season of Lent, the forty days (Sundays aren't counted) leading up to the celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.
It's a thoughtful season and this service is a meaningful start.
